Time to Pull Down and Fix Mets Hitting

My Mets, while they are still in first place in the NL East, are not in the kind of shape they need to be to ensure both presence and success in the post-season.  Thankfully, Omar pulled the trigger on Rick Down and hired Ricky Henderson.  Even if Ricky doesn’t end up as hitting coach, the coaching staff shake-up is certain to get everyone thinking in the right direction, and Henderson’s experience will be a good influence on the team.  Great pitching (although Maine’s performance tonight against the Reds may have been less than stellar) is only half the story… you can’t win without consistency hitting the ball.  I caught Lasting Milledge’s solo home run tonight, and I’m pleased he’s back on the roster.  I hope Franco can keep playing through next year… he deserves it!
