Sarah Palin had her first big interview (6 parts) this week since being selected as John McCain’s running mate. Paul F. Villareal made the video’s available at YouTube.
Of course, ABC played it for as much air time as they could… including repeating sections of the interview on 20/20 last night.
Let’s see, Thursday “World News”, Thursday [...]

In the midst of all the activity yesterday, I failed to acknowledge the passing of Tim Russert. He had a sudden heart attach at work Friday.
I have watched Tim over the years, and although I sometimes through he pursued issues that were not relevant, he was a man of integrity, he was always courteous [...]

Just a few reflections on the day…
Politics:
News reports put Hillary ending her campaign on Friday or Saturday. As usual, I’ll believe it when I see it. It’s sad that Hillary has had such a hard time concluding her campain:
“We pledged to support her to the end,” said Representative Charles B. Rangel, a New York Democrat [...]
The New York Times had an interesting article today regarding the impact of Evangelical Christians in politics today, especially with regard to the new generation of Evangelicals who apparently are not as vigorously aligned with the Republican Party the way the older generation is.
I find this interesting partly because in the Republican conventions that I’ve [...]
John Hawkins at Right Wing News today proclaimed an about-face on his position regarding John McCain. Granted, Hawkins is not make a huge shift in position, since he has shared the same opinion of many of us that McCain is far from conservative and not what we consider the ideal candidate. But he [...]

Politics
For whatever reason, Senator Clinton refuses to concede the nomination. Either she and Bill cannot conceive of the fact that reasonable people would not choose them to be their standard-bearer, or somehow, some way, [...]

Anyone that knows me knows how strongly I pay attention to the words we use and understand them by their defined meaning. In my opinion, it is antithetical to accept word usage alone as the means for understanding a word’s meaning, such as the (to me) crass usage of “insure” to mean “to make [...]

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to hear (on the New York Times Audio Digest) this story about the Pope’s speech to the US Bishops on Wednesday.
It was an excellent assessment of the lives we tend to live in America where we’ve gotten comfortable compartmentalizing our faiths or belief systems away from the realities of [...]
Someone this weekend (I can’t recall who) said that Obama lacks the experience to make a run for President at this point in his career, and perhaps he has stepped into too big a pile of doo-doo to ever make a successful run now.
I didn’t give that as much thought until I saw that four [...]
Wow! I’ve not been on this site for a week and look at what I’ve missed! First, some observations about the current political scene:
1) Here’s a news flash–Hillary lied about her “recollections” about Bosnia! I never would have guessed it. How many Democrats are out there that think Bill got a raw deal as President, [...]
