The major candidates for President are considerably closer in their policies and philosophy than the overwhelming rhetoric may lead you to believe. For some, this really is a hard choice.
It took a while for the conservative base of the Republican Party to get through the grieving process when it became apparent that John McCain was the nominee. The result of that process is a candidate who has managed to reconcile with the base by both making statements that fit the conservative agenda more adroitly (some would say McCain is not exactly honest in this regard), and the addition of a stronger conservative on the ticket in the person of Sarah Palin. I’m tired of everyone dumping on George Bush. I’m the first to admit that he has some serious leadership deficiencies, but he is the President and won the job fair and square twice, despite what the Libs think. As President, he deserves our respect, just like Nixon and Clinton did. For eight years, I had [...]

For those of you who are waiting to hear my ruminations about the rally in Cedar Rapids today, I will have it posted by the end of the evening. I’m partly done, but I need to visit a friend at the hospital yet and then I’ll finish it up. Sorry for the delay.
Meanwhile, John Deeth [...]
I’ve got a car load of people, four tickets, and tank full of gas. We’re heading up to Cedar Rapids, Iowa Thursday morning. They will be appearing at the airport there with the event starting at 8:00 AM (so we’re leaving town around 5:15 AM, with my eyes half open).
You may wonder why on earth I [...]

I watched Friday’s John and Cindy McCain interview on The View. Below is part 1; parts 2 and 3 should be accessible from the video.
I see several posts refering to this interview as “McCain Grilled On The View”, for instance this story at Huffpo, and this one at Century Of The Common Iowan.
A stretch to [...]

Sarah Palin had her first big interview (6 parts) this week since being selected as John McCain’s running mate. Paul F. Villareal made the video’s available at YouTube.
Of course, ABC played it for as much air time as they could… including repeating sections of the interview on 20/20 last night.
Let’s see, Thursday “World News”, Thursday [...]

My friends at Century Of The Common Iowan have pointed out that I made a statement that wasn’t very clear. Sometimes I assume people know what I’m talking about, and this is a case where that was a really bad assumption.
In talking about the Briston Palin controversy, I had said:
It’s unfortunate that the society that [...]
